MDEPARTMENT × MALTA
Websites & custom software for businesses in Malta
Malta
Malta is a small country with an unusually international economy. Online gaming licensed by the Malta Gaming Authority, financial services supervised by the Malta Financial Services Authority, aviation services, generic pharmaceuticals and tourism all serve customers far beyond the islands, and many companies employ teams from across Europe. That makes digital quality a business matter: websites have to work in several languages, meet GDPR and accessibility requirements and load quickly wherever clients open them. MDEPARTMENT is a digital studio of KRUPKA Concept GmbH, based in Monheim am Rhein, Germany. For businesses in Malta, we design and build websites, online shops and relaunches, and we take on custom software development: web applications, client portals, dashboards and AI integrations. We have no office in Malta. Projects run remotely in English or German, in the same time zone, with workshops on site whenever you want them.

Frequently asked questions — Malta
What do web design and custom software development cost for a company in Malta?
Websites start at €3,000, custom software at €15,000. The final figure depends on scope: the number of pages and languages, whether a shop or booking function is needed, and which existing systems the solution has to connect to. Before any work starts, we hold a free initial consultation, clarify the requirements and then send you a fixed-price offer. That price applies regardless of how many hours we actually need. As Malta uses the euro, you pay in your own currency without exchange-rate risk, and monthly instalments are possible on request.
How does working with a German studio across borders work in practice?
Much like working with a local provider, minus the commute. Malta and Germany share a time zone, so there is no lag in communication. Projects run in English or German with one fixed contact person, regular video calls and a shared board that shows what is in progress. Every few weeks, you review a working interim version on a test environment and give feedback before the next step. For kick-offs or workshops where everyone should be in one room, we travel to Malta. The studio has no Maltese office, and we say so openly; for most projects, it simply makes no difference.
How is VAT handled when you invoice a company in Malta?
Invoices come from KRUPKA Concept GmbH in Germany and are issued in euros. For business clients within the EU, the reverse-charge mechanism applies: if your company has a valid VAT identification number, we invoice without German VAT, and you account for the VAT in Malta. We verify the number before invoicing. For clients without a VAT number, other rules can apply, and we clarify that before sending an offer. Each invoice carries the reverse-charge note and both VAT numbers, so your accountant can process it without queries. For individual questions, your tax adviser remains the right contact.
Are your websites and software GDPR-compliant for companies in Malta?
The GDPR applies in Malta exactly as it does in Germany, so the same standards hold on both sides. We build with privacy by design: only the data you really need, tracking only after consent, hosting in data centres within the EU and encrypted connections throughout. As your processor, we sign a data processing agreement and document our technical and organisational measures. Portals and web applications that handle personal data get role-based access rights and logging. We implement the legal requirements technically; for the legal assessment, we work alongside your data protection officer or legal adviser.
Whether your company is based in Valletta, Mriehel, Sliema or St Julian's, the first step is the same: a short message describing what you want to change. We reply within one working day with an initial assessment, followed by a free call and a fixed-price offer in euros. If the project is not a good fit for us, we will tell you just as clearly.
